Thousands of dogs are given up each year because of housebreaking issues.  Some older dogs are put to sleep because their owners do not know how to deal with incontinence problems.  The primary goal of Paw Paw Patch is to give an alternative to these dogs needing a little help.  We specialize in "Pawty" apparel allowing your pet to remain a valued member of your household, free of worry from marking and wetting accidents.  In addition, we offer some fun items to dress up your best little friend.  Whether your dog is a Princess or a Pawper, we can dress him or her to the nines - K-9s that is!

Product Developement

While working with the Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue group, I became aware of the problem of dogs being given up due to housebreaking issues.  This is one of the biggest reason for owners placing dogs in shelters and with rescue groups - especially male dogs.  Many of these owners are truly heart broken to have to give up their beloved pet, but no matter how hard they try to housebreak their pet, they continue to ruin their carpet and furniture.

In addition, many of the dogs I have brought into my home as fosters were far from being housebroken.  While talking to others about this problem, I heard about belly bands.  I did research and made a few of my own for personal use.  They didn't work!  The problem with them is they are flat, and little boy dogs aren't flat!  After several tries, I came up with a product that is much better, which I call "Pawty Pants".  It has a curved, cupped area which is more comfortable and roomy enough to add a pad if needed.

From there, I designed my little girl "Pawty Panties" diaper that is both comfortable and cute.  Both products are totally reversible for dual looks and made from machine washable products for easy cleaning.  I also have a line of cute clothing for both your little boys and girls.  If you don't see what you want, please email me for a customized order!

I worked for several years as a seamstress with a business specializing in Bridal attire.  Also, as a young mother raising three girls and a son, we didn't have a lot of money to buy special clothes.  My mother-in-law bought my first sewing machine to help us out.   She gave me some great pointers and I soon started making special occasion costumes for my children.  Usually, at least one of the them would win the contests we entered!  As the girls got older, they even allowed me to make some of their special dance and prom dresses.  I made the bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses for most of their weddings, and helped make one of their bridal gowns.

Meet My Models

I'm sure you have noticed the adorable dogs used for my models.  They are my 'forever' dogs, Miko, Sakee, Buddy Bear, and Buddy.   My two special models are Buddy Bear and Buddy Harris.  Buddy Harris has been in my home since October 2005.  He is a six year old Shih Tzu that suffers from severe arthritis.  Buddy Bear is a 9 year old Lhasa with a slight heart murmur.  We have adopted them both in the last year from Lone Star Shih Tzu.  Normally, I have a few other little foster dogs that I use as my models, too.  Currently, I have June Bug, a beautiful female Shih Tzu puppy survived distemper, but has been left with terrible skin issues; Sonic, a laid back but playful 3 year old white Shih Tzu; Kenya, a rough and tough 4 year old black and white Lhasa; Demetrius, a 5 month old mixed Shih Tzu/Yorkie Terrier that is very playful and ready for adoption; and Valerie, a 7 pound 1 year old Shih Tzu that was found abandoned in a mobile home.  She is terrified of everyone!

In the market for a new pet?

As a last comment, if you are looking for a new pet, please consider a rescue pet.  Working with rescue dogs has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had since raising my children.  If you aren't in the market for a new pet, consider working with a rescue organization.  You can assist with transports, be a foster parent, help with fund raisers, and donate to the rescue organization of your choice.

Our Company

"Paw Paw Patch" is a family-owned company started in 2005.  It is based on years of experience.  I worked as a seamstress for many years prior to entering the business of pet apparel.  My life-long love of animals and desire to help them was the basis for starting this business.  I am extremely excited to have reached my goal of being able to help animals and starting my own business at the same time. Taking my business to the web makes the process even more exciting and challenging.
